Human Rights Act’s 1998 UK Protocol 13,
Article 1 Abolishes the
death penalty in all circumstances This includes
crimes committed during a war or when the threat of war is imminent. The UK
ratified this Protocol in 2002. Are there any restrictions to
this right? Sentencing a
person to death is a violation of the right to life and the right to freedom
from torture and inhuman or degrading treatment. What the law
