Working directly to the Chief Executive, I provide leadership to the Policy & Engagement and Grounds Maintenance services.

The Policy & Engagement service provides effective support to the executive and ward members to serve their communities through effective community engagement and local action. Also creating real opportunities for members to influence how mainstream services are planned and delivered in their area.

The Policy & Engagement also supports the executive and senior management to run the council effectively by managing and delivering corporate and community projects, which achieve the corporate objectives of the council; consulting local communities and other stakeholders regarding council priorities and key decisions; working with members and the management team to determine the council’s key corporate messages and ensuring the council communicates these messages effectively across a wide range of media.

I also led the Grounds Maintenance service in their successful delivery of £500k annual savings whilst delivering an enhanced quality of service. The service was recently retained in house following a full procurement exercise.

I lead on strategic projects specialising in property development, service outsourcing, local authority collaborative working, e.g. a possible Kent County Deal. I am also progressing several multi million pound property redevelopments.

My role involved leading the following teams: Legal, Property, Engineers, ICT and Strategic Procurement. My work concentrates on three main areas: high value property negotiations, managing strategic procurement processes and providing shared working and governance advice.
